Tara Rigney (’17)

Tara Rigney made her mark at Loreto Kirribilli as Captain of the Junior School, and excelled at sport including Netball, Athletics, Cross Country as well as Rowing.

In 2017 Tara was selected for the Under 23 National Rowing Team in 2019, racing in the Women's Pair that finished 10th in the world. Domestically, she won the Under 23 Women's Pair at Nationals, while in 2020 she won the Under 23 Women's Single Scull title at the NSW State Championships.

In 2021 Tara was selected for the Tokyo Olympic Games to race in the 2000m Women's Double Scull alongside Amanda Bateman. With the whole school cheering them on, the duo won the B-Final, which meant they were ranked 7th in the world.

Since then Tara has won bronze and silver in World Cup and Championship regattas in Poznan, Lucerne, Račice and Philadelphia. In 2023, back in Australia for the National Championships, she won the title in both the single and double skull, and claimed the Nell Slater Interstate Trophy for a second time.

When not travelling, Tara lives in Sydney with her dog Ragnar. She is completing her Commerce degree at University of Sydney while training for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
