Loreto Kirribilli speaks out

The 2025 Public Speaking program has commenced with a flurry of activity and excitement. Loreto Kirribilli has entered five major competitions, with students competing in the CSDA and the Dame Enid Lyons Oratory Competition. Upcoming competitions include Rostrum's 'Voice of Youth,' the Plain English Speaking Award, and the Junior Public Speaking Award.

Special congratulations to the students who represented the school at the CSDA local finals: Victoria, Winter, Juliet, Amelie, Chantelle, and Willow.

Well done to Juliet (Year 8) and Amelie (Year 9) for advancing to the CSDA Zone Finals. Juliet performed an entertaining and heartwarming speech on the topic of Falling into Place , while Amelie chose the topic The Narrative is Missing , and performed a thought-provoking and powerful speech on mental health.

The inaugural IGSA Dame Enid Lyons Oratory Competition has also begun. Congratulations to Charlotte (Year 10), who delivered an impressive and highly charismatic impromptu speech on the topic, The way you tell your story to yourself matters , focusing on navigating growing up and self-perception.

This competition celebrates the exceptional skill of extemporaneous speaking. Students are given three unseen topics and only 15 minutes to prepare an eight-minute speech.

Charlotte’s family was in attendance. IGSA will announce the selected finalists after the preliminary rounds are completed. Well done Charlotte!
