Cultural Tour of Italy

Cultural Tour of Italy

Loreto Kirribilli students of Italian embarked on a magical cultural tour of Italy, immersing themselves in the sights, sounds and traditions of Italy, deepening their language skills and understanding of Italian culture and society.

Starting in Milan, highlights included seeing the Duomo illuminated at night, enjoying a private boat cruise on Lake Garda, exploring beautiful Sirmione, visiting Juliet's Balcony in Verona, and gliding through the canals of Venice by gondola before taking in the breathtaking St Mark's Basilica. Plenty of culture, plenty of gelato, and lots of memories are being made along the way!

The group then farewelled Venice and continued on to Florence for the next chapter of their Italian adventure, with stops in Bologna to discover its gastronomic traditions and the oldest university in Italy. In Florence, students explored the Duomo, Uffizi, Michelangelo’s David, Ponte Vecchio, and learnt how to make fresh pasta, all while putting their Italian language skills to the test.

Other highlights included the iconic Leaning Tower and Duomo of Pisa, the beautiful hilltop town of Orvieto, and in Rome explored the Vatican, St Peter’s Basilica, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, the house where Mary Ward stayed, the Colosseum and Roman Forum, as well as visiting a Catholic high school and spending time in class.

Through art, history, architecture, food, religion, and school exchanges, the journey has provided rich pedagogical learning beyond the classroom. Magnifico!
