Term 2 concluded with our annual Music Festival, a celebration of the musical gifts and talents of our students and staff. The preparation and execution of the Music Festival helps girls learn a lot about themselves and their peers. There is an enormous amount of effort, there are outstanding performances combined with laughter, lots of fun and collegiality. All of these are elements of both personal and community growth. I congratulate and thank our Music Festival Director, Ms Jones, and Music staff, Ms Walburn, Ms O’Connor, Ms Ryan, Ms Jacka, Ms Gori and Ms Hull, as well as our Music and Dance Captains and Vice Captains. Their work and dedication are appreciated and valued. Many other staff have also contributed to the Music Festival organisation, adjudication and assistance to students and I thank them all. After a night of excellence, another wonderful Music Festival is over, now it is time to rest and rejuvenate over the holidays.
As we enter the holiday period, I am mindful of the significant number of events that staff and students are busily preparing for. These events include the Verity Immersion to Arnhem Land, School Snow Sports Camp and NASA Trip. I thank all staff involved in offering these wonderful learning experiences and look forward to witnessing the impact they have on our students’ self-awareness, resilience, deep learning, empathy, drive and determination. I especially thank Year 12 staff who will spend time marking Year 12 practice essays and exams, as well as those offering additional lessons during the holiday period. I know Year 12 and their parents appreciate the hard work and dedication of our staff. We wish Year 12 all the very best as they prepare for their Trial HSC exams in August.
Congratulations to the Loreto Mock Trial Team who defeated Queenwood this week. With three straight wins in the round robin they have now qualified to go into the knock out phase of the competition.
Retirement and Farewell
It is with deep appreciation that we farewell Ms Mary-Anne Rogan, retiring after 18 years of outstanding service as Maths teacher and Director of Human Services. Our staff gathered for a farewell retirement liturgy to celebrate Mary-Anne’s outstanding contribution to Loreto Kirribilli. We wish Mary-Anne all the very best as she commences her retirement journey.
We also thank Ms Greiner who concludes her tenure as Chair of the Loreto Kirribilli School Board at the end of this term thus bringing to a close her significant contribution to our School in this very important role. I thank her for all she has done so willingly for our school and express our immense gratitude to her for her outstanding service.
I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday.
