The Year 12 half day incursion in Week 7 this term provided students with the opportunity to become immersed in the last module for the HSC English Advanced and Standard Courses. With all four courses almost completed, all that remains is for students to read widely and write regularly. There will be a practice Area of Study and a Module examination paper provided for students in Week 3 of the holidays. After the Trial HSC Examinations, workshops will assist students in clarifying expectations for all sections of the courses and in developing further their thinking, reading and writing skills.
Stephanie Bishop, notable Australian writer presented a lecture to Year 11 English Advanced students on her novel The Other Side of the World. As text was studied in Term 1, Ms Bishop’s discussion of the motivations, influences and intentions of the novel resulted in some rich discussion of the text back in class. Her insights into some successful imaginative writing strategies were an appropriate introduction for the English incursion half day early Term 3.
