Year 7 will begin the year investigating Animal Totems, Year 8 will be looking at site-specific work in relation to Luna Park and asking the BIG question, ‘What is art for?, Year 9 Visual Arts will be exploring the city and the landscape while Year 9 Photographic and Digital Media will explore contemporary approaches to photography and film making. Year 10 will begin by exploring the history of women in art and their role in contemporary society and Year 11 will begin their Preliminary HSC with a study of a focus on Modernism and Post Modernism. Year 12 have completed their first Case Study and have begun working towards the HSC Body of Work.
I would like to wish the Visual Arts staff and students the best for 2017 as I prepare to leave Loreto at the end of February, after 25 years of service to this community, to begin a new chapter in my life. I have enjoyed every moment watching the magic of Visual Arts and Photomedia come alive for the students and I look forward to seeing the wonderful work and results continue under the leadership of the very capable Miss Sarah Cameron.
