This term there are many exciting opportunities for all students and parents to become involved in Liturgy at Loreto Kirribilli.
Every Friday we continue our tradition of Mass in the Loreto Chapel at 7:55am. All parents, friends and the wider community are welcome each week. Perhaps attendance at these Masses could even be a special Lenten observance? Each Circle Class will lead one Mass during the year. Upcoming Masses are as follows and future Mass dates will be placed in this Newsletter as the year goes on. Parents may wish to make a note of their daughter’s Circle Class Mass date.
- Friday, 3 February- Week 1 – Milson Circle 3
- Friday, 10 February- Week 2 – Heaton Circle 4
- Friday, 24 February- Week 4 – Ward Circle 1
- Friday 3 March Week 5- Barry Circle 7
- Friday 10 March Week 6- Milson Circle 6
In addition, all fathers, grandfathers and father-figures are invited to our annual Father – Daughter Mass on Sunday, 5 March at 9:30am, Centenary Hall. This is always a wonderful community celebration and once again we are looking for volunteers interested to perform the following roles at Mass: Readings, Prayers of Intercession, Offertory Procession, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (those who are trained and regularly assist in distributing the Eucharist in their parishes). If you would like to assist, please email or call Ms Ryan on 9957 4722.
Our K-12 Opening Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, 15 February for the girls during the school day. Two weeks later K-Yr 6 and Yrs 8-12 will each observe Ash Wednesday on Wednesday, 1 March with an age appropriate Liturgy of the Word, in which all students will receive an ash cross as a symbol of repentance and new beginnings. Year 7 will receive their ash at the concluding Mass at their camp. The 40 days of Lent will be observed with prayer and other special opportunities – more about this in the next newsletter.
