A reminder to all that the Sports Staff are not at school on Mondays. I would also like to remind all parents that it is important to be on time to collect your daughter from training sessions and sporting events. Sports staff and coaches have a duty of care to remain until all students are collected. It would be appreciated that they are not kept waiting for parents to arrive.
For all information regarding Sport please check the CH@LK pages which are regularly updated. This is where all information such as selections, teams, draws, wet weather, cancellations and any changes will be posted.
The team lists have been posted on CH@LK. We ask that all girls please check these carefully. Information regarding trainings and coaches will not be resolved for a few weeks. The playing times for teams will not be available until after the NSNA Grading and Fixtures is completed.
If your daughter is keen to umpire this year and has not umpired before there are some clinics that are being run at NSNA. If she is interested in attending can you please email me, Mrs Baker. The dates are Saturday, 18 March 1pm – 4pm or Sunday, 19 March 1pm – 4pm.
If any parents are keen to umpire there is a clinic being held on Saturday, 18 March at NSNA 9am – 1pm. This is for any new parents to umpiring, Net Set Go Umpires or anyone who would like a refreshment of the rules. I encourage any parents that are transitioning from Net Set Go to 10yrs Netball to attend.
We have had some changes to teams, so please check the lists carefully. There have also been some draw changes. The Tildesley team has been announced and has been posted on CH@LK.
Our Waterpolo girls played their first game for 2017 in very hot conditions on Saturday, 11 February and did very well. Our Firsts lost and our Seconds had a draw. This is an excellent effort in a competition that is of a very high standard. Congratulations to our Waterpolo girls who again are playing so well considering they have not been playing for long.
Last weekend our Firsts were narrowly defeated 13 – 12 to MLC. This is a great result. I have been told it was such a great game of schoolgirls’ Waterpolo and the result could have gone either way. Our Seconds were not so lucky this week but continue to improve.
Congratulations to our Rowers who competed in the NSW State Championships at Penrith. Although a number of events were cancelled, Rowing NSW started racing early to finish events by late morning. Our Schoolgirls 4 came 2nd and then they came 3rd in the Under 19 event. The girls rowing were: Sophie De Angelis, Caitlin Goodman, Eliza Sheldon, Olivia Jackson and Niamh Mulveney. Sophie De Angelis also raced in a number of composite crews over the weekend where she placed 5th.
We had a big weekend last weekend with Regattas on both Saturday and Sunday. The girls did well to back up after the swimming carnival on Friday.
PLC / Kings Regatta: We had 3 first places. Sophie McKelvey won her Yr 10 Single scull, while our Yr 8 2nd Quad and Yr 10 3rd Quad both won their events. We had 12 second places and 4 third places, so out of the 34 events we were in we were in the top 3 places in 19 events. All the girls performed well with a lot of the girls in at least 2 events. It was a pity that our Seniors in the U19 Four were cancelled due to the weather conditions at the end of a long hot day
IGSSA Regatta: We were back again on Sunday with another productive day. Our Yr 10 3rd Quad won their event and we had 3 second places and 5 third places out of the 17 events we were in, which again is just on half of the crews placed in the top three.
If you are interested in your daughter representing the school at the NSW Interschools Snowsports Championships in July, please save these dates. Thredbo Monday, 10 July – Saturday 15th July. You need to book accommodation. More information will be posted on CH@LK.

Its been a busy start to our Touch Football Season with a lot of weather disruptions, winter sport selections and extra curricular activities, however in light of all this I would like to thank all students and parents for their communication in dealing with the challenges we face as a ‘park sport’. In reviewing our Touch Football Chalk pages’ statistics (hits) I am pleased that we now seem to be in the process of using our devises and visiting this space with more regularity.
Some reminders about our chalk page:
- News section – relates to any current news items / daily notices or items that are set for the week.
- Competition Sections – there are two competitions running this Term:
- Saturday Eastern Suburbs Competition
- Friday Afternoon Manly Competition
- Folders have been set up specifically for each competition so when reading or checking our page please ensure you are in the correct competition.
- Wet Weather / Heat Details – please be aware that it is the ‘competition’ convenor that provides us with cancellations or adjustments to competitions. ANY updates that I receive I post straight away so my message for this is – review our chalk page & review the wet weather lines provided on our page for each competition.
- Photos – please feel free to email me your happy snaps from our competitions, I am well aware of the buz our kids get as their face pop’s up on our scrolling images.
- CGSSSA Competition– Finally we wish our Under 15’s and Senior Teams the best of luck at next weeks Competition. Our Touch Captains are excited and look forward to providing a breakdown of the day.
Congratulations to Emily Hopper (Class of 2016) who was selected to represent Australia at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships to be held in Kampala Uganda, however due to an injury, she has unfortunately had to withdraw.
Finally, I wanted to thank Miss Howard for all her efforts and work in Term 4 last year, maintaining the interest and enthusiasm in our girls and the Touch Football program.
