Music Festival and Dance
Welcome to a wonderful year of joyful music-making and dance!
What is the Music Festival?
The Music Festival is a semester-long event at Loreto Kirribilli consisting of Dance and Music Events. A House-Based competition, encouraging a joyous spirit of participation, where students are rewarded with points to each house for entries, and attendance at adjudications and place-getters.
Students place their name in a ballot in Term 1 to be selected for House Dance or House Choir OR they may opt to enter in an adjudication for an individual or small group Dance or Music item which they prepare in their own time. There are also Folk Groups which begin in Week 10 of Term 1 and are adjudicated in Term 2 led by Music Councillors and Captains.
All entries are adjudicated in Term 2: the winners and exceptional items for Dance are selected to perform at Dance Night and a selection of winning Music Items are chosen to perform at the Town Hall – the final concert showcases our exceptional performers each year. Other opportunities for performance include Spring Fair and May Day and other school community events.
Entry forms for Music and Dance are open now via the CH@LK page – girls are encouraged to present items they have been working on at home or in tuition. Many girls are working towards exams and private tuition concerts, for example, this is a wonderful opportunity to gain experience in putting it all together and ‘facing the crowd’ with confidence.
