Rehearsal and Performance Information
The Music Festival will be held on Thursday 23 June commencing promptly at 7:30pm in the Sydney Town Hall.
During the day there will be a compulsory rehearsal for all students at the Sydney Town Hall. Parents will have received a letter outlining these arrangements earlier this year, when we requested your permission for your daughter to attend the rehearsal at the Town Hall on 23 June.
All students are to make their own way directly to the city in time for roll call in St Andrew’s Square at 10:30am. Senior students will be at Milsons Point Station from 9:50 am to assist younger students if required. There will also be senior students at Town Hall Station to direct students to the appropriate exit. Students who are travelling by public transport must be aware that their free travel passes only cover travel directly between home and school.
Full and correct winter uniform including long sleeved white shirt must be worn to the evening performance. Short sleeves may only be worn to the rehearsal during the day. No scarves or Year 12 jerseys are to be worn.
Food and drink
As no food or drink is allowed in the Town Hall, please ensure that your daughter has had sufficient to eat and drink before the commencement of the rehearsal.
Rehearsal finishing times
Please note that these times are a guide only.
It is anticipated that the rehearsals of the opening item and finale, BARRY and MILSON House Choirs will conclude at approximately 1pm. Students not required for other items will be dismissed from the Town Hall at this time.
WARD and HEATON House Choir rehearsals will conclude by approximately 1:45 pm. Students not involved in further rehearsals will be dismissed from the Town Hall at this time.
Other students involved in Ward House Dance, and Concert Band, and not involved in further rehearsals will be dismissed between 2 and 3pm. Ms Jones, the Music Festival Director will notify other soloists as to their dismissal times from the Town Hall.
After the day time rehearsals, teachers will be available to accompany Years 7, 8 and 9 students back to Milsons Point Station if required. Students who are travelling beyond Milsons Point can stay on the train to complete their journey. Students in Years 10, 11 and 12 are expected to return home directly and not remain in the city.
Soloists involved in the remaining items will stay at the Town Hall until the conclusion of the evening performance. They will not be able to return home, as there will be insufficient time. These students are to bring everything they will need (costumes, music and anything they require for their performance) with them on Thursday morning. They will be supervised at the Town Hall and taken to Queen Victoria Building to buy their dinner at this time.
Soloists from Years 7-10 will be expected to remain at the Town Hall and will be accompanied to a 5pm dinner by a member of the teaching staff. If parents wish to have dinner with their daughters they will need to collect them personally from the Town Hall.
On the night all students are to be sitting in their House groups in the Town Hall by 7:00 pm. Students are to be in winter uniform, long sleeved white shirts, wearing blazers and without jumpers. It is anticipated that the Concert will conclude by 10pm.
Parents are advised that filming the concert is a breach of copyright and are asked to respect this.
If you are not attending the concert, please arrange to meet your daughter at the front of the Town Hall at 10pm. Please do not wait until your daughter calls you to say the concert is finished as this places an unnecessary burden on staff who must remain.
In recognition of this event, there will be a late start for all students on Friday 24 June at 9:55 am. There will be limited supervision of students who arrive prior to this time.
