Annual Mary Ward Justice Forum
Highlighting the close connections between the Loreto schools and the Loreto Sisters, Loreto Kirribilli hosted the inaugural Mary Ward Justice Lecture in 2005. Convened by the Loreto Sisters’ Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) Committee, this annual event is held alternately at one of the two Sydney schools, Loreto Kirribilli and Loreto Normanhurst. The topic of the 2015 lecture, hosted by Loreto Kirribilli, was Homeless not Helpless.
The 2016 Lecture, Humans, God, Nature: Creative Collaboration or fight to the Death? was held at Loreto Normanhurst on 26 October. Loreto Kirribilli will host the next Forum on 26 October 2017 with a Human Rights focus.
New Parents’ Dinner with the Principal
The Loreto Kirribilli community’s far-reaching hospitality is a feature of this school and its generous families. The Development Office has initiated a New Parents’ Dinner with the Principal for incoming parents, where new or ‘almost new’ parents are introduced to the ethos and spirit of the school as early as possible in the educational journey of their daughters.
Each year, every new parent is invited to the dinner hosted by the Principal Mrs Anna Dickinson.
During the evening, parents are treated to a delicious meal and they are addressed by the Principal. The primary advantage of these dinners is that parents gain the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the Principal, the Chair and members of the School Executive early in their daughter’s school years, creating a sense of connection and belonging to this wonderful network.
Volunteers’ Thank You Lunch
All the generous coordinators and volunteers from within the Loreto community are invited to a sit-down luncheon in Centenary Hall.
This annual luncheon is hosted each November in appreciation of the countless hours of dedicated support from a community of parents who continually give generously of their time to share their skills and expertise in volunteering for P&F events, Masses, sport, the arts, the canteen, Uniform Shop, as scribes, guest speakers and members of the Ex-students’ Union.
