Description
Following Amnesty International's show of support for abortion, it was clear that a new human rights letter writing group was necessary, in order to continue our strong tradition of social justice, while still upholding our catholic values. Thus, the Benenson Society was born, introduced by Fr Middleton of St Aloysius' College. Loreto Kirribilli and St Aloysius', as co-founders of the organisation, believe it continues with what has been a strong commitment to social justice in both schools.
Benenson Society is a campaigning movement that works to promote all the human rights enshrined in the 'Universal Declaration of Human Rights.' We do this by sending letters of appeal to leading figures to free prisoners of conscience.
